What issues do I need to be sensitive to when entering an unfamiliar culture or situation? What about using my video camera, microphone and lighting? How do we maximize the collaborative process with teammates and crew? What are film production stages? How do I conduct an effective interview? |

Keynote Session w/Filmmaker Chris Moore |
Lecture - Meet Chris Moore (LivePlanet), producer of Good Will Hunting, the award-winning film which both influenced pop-culture and launched the careers of Matt Damon and Ben Affleck. Moore also produced Project Greenlight and the American Pie movie trilogy. Join us as Chris Moore shares some of his career highlights, and the production journey behind the making of his latest film, THE PEOPLE SPEAK, a documentary inspired by Howard Zinn's book, A People's History of the United States. The film brings together actors Josh Brolin, Marisa Tomei, Danny Glover, Jasmine Guy, Viggo Mortensen, Kerry Washington, Morgan Freeman, Matt Damon, and many others to re-create the emotional impact of major moments in U.S. history. These slices of life are woven together with historical footage, music and narrations from Ben Affleck and Howard Zinn and become a film record of what makes our democracy come alive and why civil disobedience needs to be a defining characteristic of Americans. Please note the film will not be screened during this session. |

Screening & Panel discussion - Campus MovieFest (CMF) is the premier outlet for the next generation of filmmakers. CMF began eight years ago when four students from Emory University provided students with everything they needed -- including camcorders and Apple laptops – to make movies in one week. Since then, more than 200,000 students at campuses all over the world have told their stories on the big screen, receiving all the necessary technology and training for free – thanks to corporate partners and schools.

Panel discussion - Sign up to "Stop By. Shoot Film." Discover how easy and fun it is to use Kodak motion picture film - and get the best images you've ever created. You'll talk with a top cinematographer, learn how to use a 16mm camera and film, then shoot your own scene - all in under two hours! Following the event, you’ll be sent a DVD of your footage, so you can see for yourself what film quality means. There's no fee, but space is limited.
Joe Binford, Jr., writer/director/ motion picture film editor, brings his passion for storytelling to his portion of this special session. Binford will share his experience in the editing rooms of THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA–THE LION, THE WITCH AND THE WARDROBE, THE FUGITIVE, RANSOM, WE ARE MARSHALL, ATL, and others to give you a closer feel for how an editor treats a story while editing. Binford promises to inspire those who want to learn more about becoming more efficient story-tellers while passing on tricks of the trade that picture editors keep in their back pocket while editing feature films. |

Workshop -Part 2 of the highly acclaimed GABPC Directors Boot Camp involves hands on production, including set design, lighting, sound, technical direction, director actors, and most importantly, team exercises on how to work together to ensure a successful shoot. The piece will be edited in Part 3 of the Boot Camp, and then shown at the final conference Keynote Session on Sunday, April 19 at 1:30pm. |

Panel discussion - What are the best and most cost effective ways to market your completed film? Led by Simon Kornblit, former Executive VP of Worldwide Marketing at Universal Pictures, our panel of film production and development pros will discuss traditional marketing versus use of Internet tools such as social media and social networking websites that will generate awareness of your film while creating traffic to your website. Topics such as how to position your film, market-oriented script development, budgeting marketing items, planning cost-effectively, approaching buyers, maneuvering legal issues, attracting talent and securing finance, using press and public relations, briefing still photographers to convey the best images of the film, creating visual design (sales sheets, brochures, posters, Internet, etc.), working with trailers and showreels, matching distributors' needs, and targeting international markets and festivals, will all be covered. |

Panel discussion – what does it mean exactly to have your film screened in a film festival? What’s the difference between a film festival and a film market? How do I get my movie on television?
